Rocket family

R-7

Soviet Union and Russia1960 to 2010

These are the R-7 rockets that bridge Sputnik and Soyuz, all grown from the R-7 missile, the world's first intercontinental ballistic missile. The Vostok-K launches Yuri Gagarin and the other Vostok cosmonauts, the Voskhod rocket flies the Voskhod crews and hundreds of Zenit reconnaissance satellites, and the four-stage Molniya sends the first probes toward the Moon, Venus and Mars and places communications satellites in long elliptical orbits.
