Zenit

Soviet Union and Russia, Ukraine1985 to 2017

Zenit is a powerful kerosene rocket designed by Yuzhnoye in Ukraine, whose first stage also serves as the strap-on booster of Energia. It launches Soviet signals-intelligence satellites from Baikonur and, as the Zenit-3SL, commercial communications satellites from Sea Launch's floating platform on the equator. The breakdown in relations between Russia and Ukraine after 2014 brings the program to an end.
