Atlas IIAS's maiden flight (AC-113) launched the Intelsat 704 satellite from Cape Canaveral. The Intelsat VII-series spacecraft, carrying 36 C- and Ku-band transponders, was placed in a sub-transfer orbit before moving to 66°E to serve the Indian Ocean region, Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
