Helios 2 (Helios B), the second West German–NASA solar probe, built to measure the interplanetary medium inside Earth’s orbit down to ~0.29 AU. Titan IIIE Centaur-D1T/Star-37E from Cape Canaveral LC-41 placed it in heliocentric orbit on 15 January 1976, closer to the Sun than Helios 1.
