Scout X-3Vandenberg SFB, CA, USA
Drawing of the Scout X-3 for Transit-5A 3

Transit 5A-3, a U.S. Navy prototype operational Transit navigation satellite. Scout X-3 from Point Arguello placed it in polar LEO; launch vibration damaged the memory and oscillator so it could not store navigation messages, but it was the first to achieve gravity-gradient stabilization.
