Korabl-Sputnik 1 (Sputnik 4), the first Vostok spacecraft test flight, launched on a Vostok 8K72 from Baikonur on 15 May 1960 with a mannequin and life-support systems. It reached orbit, but a wrong attitude at deorbit left the descent module stranded until atmospheric reentry in 1962.
