Endeavour's maiden flight retrieved the stranded Intelsat VI (F-3) satellite, stuck in a useless orbit since 1990, and fitted it with a new perigee kick motor for boost to geostationary orbit. Capturing it required the only three-astronaut spacewalk in history after two solo attempts failed, and the mission logged a record four EVAs.
