FLTSATCOM F8

Atlas G CentaurCape Canaveral SFS, FL, USA
Drawing of the Atlas G Centaur for FLTSATCOM F8

Atlas G Centaur launched FLTSATCOM F-8, the final satellite in the US Navy's UHF FLTSATCOM constellation providing worldwide voice and teletype relay for ships, aircraft, and field units. The mission had been delayed two years after a 1987 pad accident damaged the Centaur stage, and marked NASA's last Atlas/Centaur launch operation at Cape Canaveral.
