LAGEOS-1 (Laser Geodynamics Satellite), NASA’s first dedicated laser-ranging geodesy satellite—a dense aluminum sphere with retroreflectors in medium Earth orbit. Delta 2913/Star-24 (D-123) from Vandenberg SLC-2W placed it to measure Earth crustal motion and gravity-field parameters.
