Nimbus 1 (Nimbus A), NASA’s first Nimbus experimental weather satellite for cloud imaging and meteorology, launched on a Thor SLV-2 Agena-B from Vandenberg; premature Agena second-burn cutoff put it in a lower-than-planned polar orbit, but it still returned useful weather data.
