Fobos-Grunt & Yinghuo-1

Zenit-2SB launched Russia's Phobos-Grunt Mars sample-return probe, carrying China's Yinghuo-1 orbiter as a co-passenger. The Fregat-based upper stage failed to fire, stranding both spacecraft in low Earth orbit; Phobos-Grunt fell back to Earth uncontrolled in January 2012 without reaching Mars.
